P0597 - Check Engine light

Hi All,

I got the check engine light (amber) today. After driving for 15 mins, I pulled over in my garage. I restarted it after few mins, the light went away. I connected the reader and it gave me P0597. The car is 2012 R56s with 45,000 km. I have extended warranty.

Not sure, if this is covered under extended warranty or does it even need to be brought in to the dealer?

Any advice would be great!

The thermostat in general is a common issue with these cars...can you tell what kind of Thermostat you have in terms of plugs? how many plugs are there, do you have the metal elbow with a sensor on it too?

from the front, it is on the right side right under the engine wiring harness. Also, you can follow the pipes to thermostat. you might also have to remove the air pipe going to the filter housing.

there is a plug setting at 4 clock and the other one at 11 clock.
