Ignition Help?!!

Hello all,

I have a 2009 Clubman and when i insert my FOB key nothing happens the car doesnt seem to register that it is inserted, I have replaced the battery to the key and it still works when locking and unlocking doors etc just not for the ignition. Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be? I cant seem to find a shop anywhere near me that can find/fix the issue which i assumed was the actual ignition piece in the dash.

Any advice would be more then helpful

Thank you.

Also I will be more then happy to answer as many questions as needed or even upload a video of the issue if it helps! From what i have been told the ignition can only be replaced by a BMW/Mini place because it has to be reprogrammed even if its just the plastic piece.

The ignition on the second gen is electrical and needs no programming. My countryman did the same thing. When you set the key in the cradle, push it on an angle amd try to start the car. Try few times til you find the spot...

Where you located?

I have tried that. It used to work sometimes now nothing. I am in Jacksonville North Carolina. Someone said if i replace that plastic piece ill have to reprogram either the ignition or the key. not sure how accurate this is.

I believe any switch will work from 2007 to 2014 of 2nd gen whether it's base, S, auto, or manual.

Are we talking about the ignition stop/start switch? If so, it's plug and play (no programming needed).

We have them here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg2.htm#item5
DIY for an R56 here, but gives you an idea: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...eplacement.htm
