[Help!] Fuel leak after replacing filter

After replacing the fuel filter today I found a leak at the green fuel line connector that goes into the upper filter housing.

One funny thing is that when I was scratching my head I noticed a yellow o-ring laying right at the corner of my rear carpet. I vacuumed my car two weeks ago and never noticed any thing like this. Could be blasted off from the connector or the housing when removing the fuel line? The inner diameter fits perfectly over the male connector. I tried to sandwich the o-ring between the green locking clip and the filter housing outlet, but couldn't push the clip all the way in because of the added thickness.

Anyone had the same leak and had it fixed? Did anyone saw this yellow o-ring when disassembling the fuel filter assembly?

Thanks!

Update: the leak was able to seal itself in a couple of days. Just leave it alone and let the connector and rubber sleeve settle in.
