Remote Central Locking

Final help for assistance if possible, I have R50 2004 Mini one and the car wont lock or unlock from the key. If I sit in the car I can lock and unlock it using the switch on the dash, it also locks when I drive off after around 5mph.

The receiver is behind the clock and it has three wires connecting it. I assume one is power the other maybe lock and unlock?

Anyone have a link which will tell me what the wires do?

Really getting annoying this is now!!

Thanks for your help

Bob

Moving this to the Stock Problems/Issues. If you have not already done so, have you searched that section for information?

Also, are you sure your key battery is still good?

They are power, ground, and a wire going to the body control module (probably digital communications).

Can you lock/unlock the doors inserting the key into the door?
If so, your key battery might be dead. You can buy a used key from eBay, replace the internals, and code the remote to your car.

If the key is bad, replace the battery. I did a battery change about a month ago.

A question in addition to the above. My remote locking receiver seems to have failed. The range for picking up the key has reduced to having to hold the key a few inches in front of the windshield to get the car to lock and unlock. That is with a new battery in the key. If I replace the remote key receiver do I have to have it programmed, or is it simply an antenna that relays the key code to the body control module and work without any key programing?

There is a 'pairing' process sometimes needed after a key fob battery change, but it's not $$$dealer 'programming'.
