thank you for the heads up! I think ECS has them back in stock and one is currently being shipped to me, but I will definitely keep you in mind in the future. going to need to start putting a list together of replacement parts for the tear down.

well had some time yesterday just to tinker around as im getting ready to go on vacation in a couple weeks, and I promised the GF I wouldn't tear into this thing until we got back. But I must say, I spent about an hour just bagging and labeling and this car is very simple to work on. removed piping, air box, intake manifold, all wiring as been disconnected (and documented with tags and photos), vacuum lines etc etc.. I did however notice the intercooler piping on the passenger side heading to the intake had some noticeable oil within the piping, is that due to oil passing through the PCV and back into the turbo/intercooler? do you guys recommend removing/cleaning the intercooler? I will most definitely consider installing a catch can once this thing gets put back together. any ideas or input is always greatly appreciated.

The oil can come from two sources.
1. The PCV system (normal). A catch can helps but will not totally eliminate this. I strongly recommend an OCC for everyone.
2. Turbo bearing seal leaking. Doesn't happen often. Usually only after 60k miles or so. Check for side to side shaft end play in the turbo. If it's over 1mm it's probably time for an overhaul/replacement.

I'd flush the IC out since your going to have it off. Alcohol works good and is fairly safe. Blow it out afterwards with shop air and let it dry. Don't forget to cap it off. Bugs get in the darnedest places.

OK man thanks for the input, ill make sure to take the intercooler off and pour a few bud lights through it to clean it up!

Reminds me of a quote...
"Gas is for cleaning parts, alcohol is for drinking, and nitro is for racing."
