I have 2 R50 auto . both 2006

One...when the key is pulled out after engine off...the car chimes 4 notes...

beee..boooo..baaa booo.

It goes through this twice.

Done this since we owned it

Its a cool chiming noise

I'm laughing too as I write this.....

The other one...no chiming......

Both cars run AWESOME !!!!

And there are NO issues with either...

I'm sure this is a strange question.......but where else would one find an answer to this ??

Wish I knew how to " post" a video so you could hear.....

 

On a laptop that would be a BIOS message but I would not think the Mini ECU would do that but there was an old TV show called, My Mother the Car.

Will see if somebody knows whether the ECU can be programmed to emit those sounds but by chance does that car have an aftermarket audio system? See the thread below.

It DOES have an aftermarket radio !!!

SO....the chimes are NOT part of the normal operation of a R 50 Mini ?

Its either a pioneer or sony head unit isnt it lol. While its beeping you have time to pop a disc out even after you turned the ignition off. Just a convenience feature of the stereo.
