Evap emissions P0456

2006 R50 auto . 87,000 miles

The Mini sat for a couple weeks.

Started right up...service engine light came on. ( stayed on)

OBD reader stated " Evaporative Emissions VERY small leak".

Does anyone have any idea what it could be/ is ?

Appreciate any and all help

More often than not, gas cap seal is shot. If it's original buy a new one. $22 15000 miles ago never had the issue again.

Thanks minnie!!!

Was you gas cap cracked ? Could you SEE where it was worn ?

Or just that the seal is too soft/worn to " seat" properly ?

Did you get an OEM gas cap ?

Thanks again for your input

I checked the gas cap. The rubber seal has more splits than rubber almost.

Picked up an OEM gas cap at the dealer today!!!

Hopefully should fix
Thanks again MM

My gas cap looked to be in good shape, but obviously the rubber wasn't sealing perfectly. If yours was split than 99.9% chance that was it. Might have to run a few drive cycles for the code to go away, although mine went off immediately.
