Can someone tell me if it's possible to buy just the potentiometer / sensor part of the accelerator pedal?
This little box that bolts on the side of the pedal:
There seems to be no part numbers on this, other than a square barcode thing!
I find my R53 is slightly jumpy when going at really slow speeds like crawling along in a traffic jam. Once I get going more than say 5mph it's fine. I figure it seems like the pedal sensor is a bit worn on the real bottom end of the tracks where it goes from idle to having some output.
I opened the pedal and potentiometer thinking I'd give it a lean but the parts can't be accessed as the pins of the plug hold the circuit in the case face down and would need to be de-soldered.
What year is your car? You are aware of the BPV yo-yo affect on the earlier models?
On the original question, I am thinking that there might be some here that would think a potentiometer had something to do with viagra, yes I am a smart ***. Since you know the term am I correct in assuming you are either into electrical design or mechanical controls? Would think some electrical gurus here would have chimed in. You thought about posting in the Mod - Electrical section?
Thanks for your reply. It does sound like the described yoyo effect, but far more subtle than others describe. It doesn't Halen when driving asking really, only when crawling around a car park at walking speed or in a traffic jam.
I don't think my r53 throttle body looks like the imaged detroit tuned one - it has an electric motor controlling the throttle valve rather than a vacuum line. I suppose it could just be an issue of finite resolution on the motor steps.

I took a look and it seems in good condition there is sins some spring to it and it opens when at isle and closes when the accelerator is given a pulse. It stays open if the accelerator is slowly pressed.

That is a ByPass Valve for the supercharger. We can get your Throttle Bodies or new Pedals as needed tho.
