Spark Plug replacement on Mini Maintenance Plan

Under the extended Maintenance plan i.e. the book states that Spark Plugs are to be replaced at 60,000 miles. My car was missing ( car has approx 72,000) miles on it and I asked the Dealer why he had not replaced the spark plugs. He told me that the Computer system did not say they needed replacing and recommended I have new coils. I asked him if the computer told him I needed new coils and he said NO, but the mechanic thought that was the problem. I asked them why did they rely on the computer to tell them I did not need plugs but suggested coils even though the computer did not tell them to replace them.

I showed him the Extended Maintenance Book where it stated clearly that sparks plugs were to be changed at 60,000 miles. I left the dealership and then called Mini Customer service and had the issue resolved.

If you have the extended Mini Maintenance Plan , check it , Spark parks plugs are covered at 60,000.

Good info, thanks for sharing your experience with the community. For anyone who may be over their maintenance plans, we do have a great article that can help with the replacement here.

60,000, huh? I just rolled over 68,000 and I'm getting some misses over 4k.

Not on the maintenance plan, but at least I have confirmation that they need to be replaced. Thanks!

the dealer doesn't change anything the car doesn't tell it to. if you bring it up, they might look into it but otherwise they are as useless as.....

Yeah...I like the guys at my dealership, but they can't solve a couple of minor issues like the top's motor cover that keeps falling off, or the driver's window that sometimes doesn't roll down enough when I open the door...
