DIY serpentine belt

Has anyone here ever removed and replaced the serpentine belt on an R56?

Any tips or advice?

Yes, I've done it twice. Not especially difficult, take your time.

The instructions make this look much harder as they want you to take a bunch apart. We now offer our belt tools to make it a 30min job. With our wrenches you just jack the car up and use this wrench from the bottom to release the tension, then pull the belt. Install new belt and you're done.

There is either a 12 point hex on the tensioner to use a special tool on, or use a prybar from the bottom and push up the tensioner and push the lock pin in. The lock pin is on the tensioner near the dipstick and has a spring on it.

We are able to reach up with a prybar while the car is in the air, detension the belt as well as set the lock pin, once the belt is on just use the prybar trick again and push up til the lock pin pops out and make sure to reset the waterpump friction wheel, otherwise you don't have a waterpump..
