Thanks minitobe, I called mini yesterday and the advisor said the same thing. The tool only helps with the belt, I would do it myself but the instructions from pelican parts saids the car should be on a lift and I don't have access to one.

I dont think you need a lift. If i remember correctly, there is enough space to squeeze your hands in there. You will need to take the motor mount bracket off so you can lower the engine down. I also suggest getting the exhaust off of the rubber holders so it can move freely, somewhat. You will also need to take the mud guard off. Take a look and assess the space and location.

I don't believe our tech article states your MINI should be on a lift.

The only note about lifting anything is in figure 3 about supporting the engine with a jack. We also show the whole process without any special tools. We do also recommend that when you're in there to replace the water pump that it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the water pump pulley for added insurance as over time the rubber can become detached from the pulley or crack and wear out. We have them HERE if needed. Let me know if you have any questions after reviewing the article.
