Bluetooth buttons no Phone option

Hello,

Mini noob here. I just purchased a 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman S from Carmax with 70k on the odometer. Recently I went to go program the bluetooth, but don't have any of the options in the radio panel. I have the buttons on the steering wheel which would lead me to believe that it has the option, but cannot find a way to access it. Is this a sign that someone may have changed the computer to one without it, or is this something strange, or am I just being a noob like when I told carmax i had a reverse light out to find out I only have 1 and a rear fog light. Also, not exactly related but could be, when trying to setup my button to honk the horn when I lock I noticed that I don't have that option either, but it appears in the book as standard.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I find that a good resource when you get a new MINI is to check out the factory options: go to bmwvin.com and enter your VIN, and it'll spit out a list of the options. You should be able to see whether the car came with bluetooth integration or not. I checked the VIN of my previous 08 S and I think you're looking for option
6NE ENHANCED BLUETOOTH MOBILE PREPARATI

As for the honk on lock, I am not sure if that's even possible. My 08 S did not have an alarm so it did not beep or anything on lock/unlock, only flash the lights. My 2013 JCW has the factory alarm so it beeps on lock/unlock but no horn. So if you have the factory alarm you'll probably see those options but otherwise it'll be silent lock/unlock

I looked it up on several vin decoding sites, and none of them state it as an option, seems weird they would put non-active steering wheel buttons on a car, but chalk it up to me being a noob. I guess that gives me 2 buttons prewired for any options I want to pursue in the future.

You would think so, but MINI has been doing it for over 10 years. And you don't really have 2 prewired buttons to play with. Those button modules connect directly to the car's digital iBus.
