OE Xenon Issue - Intermittently Turning Off

2006 R53 Hardtop

OE Xenons

The headlights turn on just fine... no problem; but as I start to drive I'll notice that one headlight will turn off, intermittently for maybe 3-4 seconds at a time. There's no pattern to it... sometimes it's the left, sometimes the right but always one at a time, never both. It happens when they're cold... happens when it's warm. No buzzing... no rattles.

Where do I start?

Most of what I'm finding for an issue like yours is a control unit or ignitor issue. Check out the threads below for more info.

I was thinking about both of those components... but would they both be failing simultaneously or why would the problem be effecting both sides?

Also... is the ground within the unit itself? Because I have a Carbon Bonnet and I am wondering if the ground just isn't there. However, I've had the carbon bonnet for 9 years now with no problems.
