'07 R56 O2 Sensor Replacement

Hey all!

Recent MINIac here-- just bought the new guy a few weeks back. Much to my dismay, the check engine light has appeared... Luckily the auto store's reading of the code presented it as just an O2 Sensor failure. I'm planning on doing the work to the car myself (and planning on replacing both the sensors at the same time), but I had some questions about the correct parts to use.

I did some research, but I wanted to make 100% sure before ordering/ hopefully hear from someone who has done this replacement before... Are the correct replacement parts to order (for PreCat and PostCat-- hopefully that won't continue to throw a code?) the Bosch 17217 Oxygen Sensor, OE Type Fitment for the upstream & the Bosch 15379 Oxygen Sensor, OE Type Fitment for the downstream?

If anyone has any experience with this it would be much appreciated! Love the new ride

Pre-sensor be sure to use NTK as there have been reported issues of the Bosch sensors constantly throwing CEL's. NAM thread with info HERE.

Before committing to over $400 in sensors, (that you may not need) have you had the problem professionally diagnosed?

The wideband and O2 sensors aren't known for failing in these cars, every wideband I've ever replaced was due to oil ingress causing internal fault.

There can also be other reasons for O2 deviance, not just a failed sensor, and you need to diagnose this before throwing money at it. This will save you time, money, and hassle in the long run.

Thanks for this-- It just saved me a few hundred! It turns out the dealership actually had replaced them prior to the sale. It was only that the code wasn't properly cleared

Thanks again! Happy to be a part of the MINI family!

Glad to be of service, we work on these cars everyday and the chances of you needing a wideband are slim unless there was oil ingress, same for the post cat O2.

We always suggest proper diagnostic before throwing parts at your car, but if you're looking to buy parts you don't need we'd also be glad to hook you up.
