New rear wiper motor problem???
New rear wiper motor problem???
My rear wiper motor has been leaking wash fluid internally, and I finally
bought a genuine MINI replacement part, but the original has a hole at
the end of the shaft that mates with the blade cover and leads the fluid
to the orifice in the cover, whereas the new part (same part number
67636932013) has a small pointable orifice side mounted near the end
of the shaft. It looks like there's no way it would mate or work with the
blade cover (61627044627).
Is there a new cover that works with the new motor, or do you just leave
the cover off now? Kind of want to figure this out before trying to swap it
in and see, as that may affect the returnability of the part.
This is for a 2003 R50, but the part is listed as covering 2002-06 R50 and R53.
Pelican parts says this is the correct and only part. ECS Tuning's pics
also show the new style shaft end but don't know anything about how
it fits. Anybody run across this yet?

To answer my own question (after some googling and
a conversation with MiniMania) . . .
It looks like they've changed all the available parts from the
earlier Trico to the Valeo part for the later gen 1 MINIs.
Apparently it looks like I need an wiring adapter from the older
3-pin plug to the newer 4-pin plug as well as a newer grommet,
blade, arm, and nut to make the Valeo fit.

Yes for early cars that did not have the conversion: Just saw your post.

After getting all the correct parts and waiting for a window in my busy schedule,
I installed the new motor, wiring adapter, grommet, nut, arm with cover, and blade.
It took about 15 minutes from start to finish, and the newer design (Valeo) unit does
a much better job with the spray than the old (Trico) one ever did, even when it was
new, (after adjusting the nozzle aim with a just-thick-enough pin).
