on my '04 Mini, the airbag indicator light has started coming on and off. Sometimes it's on while driving down the road and then it will turn off. Randomly. Any idea why?

 

my car used to do that, it stopped though, and when I crashed it all the airbags worked so unless it stays on I wouldn't worry about it, or if you can read the codes when it's on that might be informative.

 

Report this to your nearest MINI dealer service department or contact MINIUSA.com. There is a recall notice, #15V-205 for certain '05-'06 Cooper and Cooper S and '05-'08 Cooper and Cooper S convertibles. If enough earlier models start having the same problem and report it maybe a recall will be started for them as well. Wouldn't hurt.
Mine's going in early next month for this, replacement of the passenger side sensor pad. Those two lights that have been lit for the last 4 years will be sorely missed. They've become part of the cockpit ambiance.
