Odd feeling in 4th...

I have aa 2010 non s R56 6spd. I've noticed when in 4th gear, the shifter feels... Less insulated? for lack of a better term. Kinda like direct gear on gear feeling unlike the rest of the gears. Any idea what's causing this?

Would you possibly describe it as a notchy? Has it always felt this way?

Yeah, like a notchy/geary feeling. And it's a new development within the past week...

I know I've run across some threads as people describe the shifting in both the cooper and cooper s as "notchy." Some info about the shifter feeling notchy here. Found another here. Both aren't exactly the issue you've described though. Not that this could solve your issue, but maybe service the transmission fluid and see if that makes a difference? DIY here if needed. Maybe someone will have some more input for you as well.
