Hi everyone I am in the middle of replacing my exhaust on my 02 mini cooper s and the front tray holding the hangers on every bolt has snapped when trying to remove them...I used PB blaster and a little heat but no work. The exhaust tray is off but now I need to get the broken studs out!! Any help or ideas on what I need to do, is there another way of hanging the exhaust at all?!?! Thank you

I broke one of the bolts and had to use an easy out and a **** load of Kroil to remove. I even had to replace the rubber hangers on this plate because the bolts had rusted into them.

 

Did you have any trouble with the studs at the rear of the car? I broke one of those off, but there was just enough thread left to get a nut on. It has been many years since I did that exhaust work and things are probably in much worse shape now. I'd love to hear of other people experience as I believe this poor design is going to cause many problems.

 

Heard for re-welding new studs in and painting them as the fix.
