the factory booklet "The Book of Motoring" says the car weighs 2314 for the Cooper and 2469 for the S, and the factory website says 2524 and 2678 for the S. What is correct, as there is an almost 200 pound difference?

 

Received and e-mail from Mini USA that says the heavier weights are correct :???:

 

Oh well. I'm sure we'll find ways to lighten them up a bit.
That and add a few extra hp here and there.

Something I just considered on this topic....
The difference in weight could be based on how they weigh it.
If they weigh it wet with full gas, oil, etc. the weight will increase by a substantial amount. This may be the difference.
Just an idea....

When I get mine in August I'll drive it on to the floor scale in our warehouse.
