Acceleration Problem
I'm wondering how many other "S" owners are experiencing the same pulsation while accelerating. When I accelerate in 2nd or 3rd gear I generally get a response that might be felt were I pumping the gas. This occurs with a modest application of the loud pedal and is not always easy to demonstrate, naturaly. Keeler's tells me that it is normal for an "S", but I have no way of knowing if we are talking of the same thing. If the rest of the "S" owners concur then if we ***** enough they will have to fix it. I'd appreciat you thoughts on this, Thanks Karl
I had the inconsistent power delivery problem until I got the MINI Madness intake. Then it disappeared. That was before I did the CD 31 upgrade, so I can't comment on whether that would have fixed it or not from personal experience, but I have heard that it does.
I had the same problem, along with the hesitation in 1st gear.
The CD 31 upgrade seems to have smoothed out both issues
with my car. I'd say definitely call your dealer and have it done.
Hope it helps you out.

Dave,
Did the CD update improve gas mileage? I am
stuck around 20 mpg and can't seem to get any
better even if I drive slow.
Thanks.

Yeah, I've got the same problem with my 2002 MCS. Took it to dealer, was told I already had the latest software, to wait awhile and see if they get more complaints. Sheesh.
My car does it at moderate throttle opening, at about 3200 rpm, most noticeable in second gear. When I take off real easy or when I jump on it it doesn't do it. Feels like a fuel mapping problem to me, but until MINI sees the problem in enough cars they won't do a thing about it. I'm getting sick of the crap that keeps going wrong with this car. Each thing by itself is no big deal, but added together they make for what is becoming a big disappointment. I'm really considering selling it before the word gets out that they are not well built.
I had a 1995 Dodge Intrepid with the 3.5L V-6 (same engine as in the Prowler, 214 horses, ran like a bat out of hell). Same deal as the MINI. Was a great car, except something was always breaking. Then surveys and reviews started popping up citing reliability problems, and the value of the model tanked. It was cherry when I sold it in 1999 and I only got 8K for it. Same year Camrys were selling for over 12K. I'm thinking I'd better sell the MINI while someone will still pay top dollar. Anyone interested?
