New here and could find a thread on the following:

Car cranks and will not start. If it sits for a couple days it will run for about 15 seconds. It ran fine, then started hesitating - stalled and restarted going down the road until it flat out quit. Mechanic cannot find a problem.

Leaninf towards fuel pump replacement, but wanted to tap into some knowledge here before purchasing a pump and filter.

Any assitance is apprciated.

Put PRESURE GUAGE on the fuel rail...simple test...cheaper to test than to throw parts at a car...

 

is it difficult to remove the "turbo" to access the valve? What is the PSI i am looking for?

You have a 2004 s according to the first post...so SUPERCHARGED unless it is VERY MODDED...
Takes about 2 minutes...4 torix bolts to unscrew the intercooler boot couplers so you can remove the ic...and get to the fuel rail...there is even a place to plug in a guage...
If your "mechanic" does not know before suggesting a new $200+ fuel pump and the install...you seriously need a new "guy"....
