Squeaky rear shock
Squeaky rear shock
Folks,
I have a 62K mile '08 MCS that has developed a lovely rear shock squeak. At first I thought it was the aftermarket rear sway bar or its bushings. But now that I had switched back to the winter OEM suspension (from KWv3's), I took the left rear shock apart and replicated the squeak at around 2/3rds of the travel point of the piston. After some lubrication the squeak went away for a month or so, but now it's back. More pronounced when temps drop below 40F, which will be the case until March.
I can replace the shocks, but it's a bit of a waste of money as this is my winter beater setup, and the KWv3's will go back on the car for the 2015 autoX season.
Has anyone encountered a squeaky OEM shock before?
Found a fix short of replacement?
TIA,
a
