Hi all, Ive got a friend who has an '08 non-turbo. He replaced the timing chain and tensioner. When he got it back together and tried to start the car it sounded like it had no compression. I asked him if he had the cams locked in and the crank locked in and he borrowed the tools and they were locked in place. So I go over to his place at 9 o'clock at night and find he didnt have the crank gear bolt in the front tight enough. The crank was spinning but the gear wasnt. I left him at that point and he was gonna spend the next day making sure everything was in time again and tighten the bolt correctly which he did. So now when he starts the car it misses terribly he says and those codes come up. I havent been able to get back over there yet to check it out for him. My question is is there any one thing that would affect those two cylinders only? I wont get over there untill saturday, and Im trying to learn as much as I can about the mini's systems. Thanks and sorry for the long post!

It could be bent valves.... I hope not, but that's the first thing that comes to mind when I hear that the crank (and pistons) were moving, but the timing chain (and valves) were not.
