Seat belt problem...Dangerous!!!

Did a search and haven't found this problem posted. I have an '02 with less than 8K miles,( I know....I need to motor more...it's a "non-winter" car and here in Wisc. that's about 5/12 months), anyway....

My wife and I were about to motor about when I was unable to "click" the drivers seatbelt. It fit in, but no "click" or lock! WTF. I have very few miles on the car and it worked fine yesterday at a local AutoX. Now the disturbing part....I was frantic....because tomarrow, in the early morning I'm attending Phil Wick's driving class in Northern Illinois....I needed this fixed now,( or not fail in the 1st place )...so I called MINI International, Milwaukee and fortunately they had the part in stock and replaced under warranty with very short notice....I'm safe again:smile:

Hats off to MINI International for the quick fix...but this doesn't instill a great deal of confidence in MINI's product, (restraint device). This would be a TERRIBLE part to fail at just the right/(wrong) time.

Anyone else hear of this?

Not as dangerous, but close....

Mine often won't unfasten when clicked - Indianapolis MINI is fixing right now.

I would blame the vendor for supplying defective parts, not Mini
