I have a 2009 cooper s with automatic transmission with 68k. On some mornings it shows a gear with an ! In the info window on the tach and I am unable to shift out of park unless I get lucky shaking the shifter. Does anyone have any expirence with this. I am currently using some fishing wire to pull the manual unlock switch but I don't think this is a good long term solution.

 

What does the owners manual say about that warning? Might be time to hit the dealer for a diagnosis.
