R56 JCW electronic issue

Everything was fine until I had to jump start my car a few days ago. After the jump start I had a major electronic malfunction. Windows won't roll up or down including the sun roof, reverse lights don't work, fog lights don't work, highbeams don't work, blinkers don't work, all the interior lights don't work, the back lighting for the tachometer and speedometer don't work, and my hill assist (not that I care about it too much) doesn't work either. The only things that do work are my lowbeams, brake lights, audio system and the LTD screens on the tac and speedo. I've checked all the fuses and they are all fine, I don't know if it may be a relay or what... and I keep getting a red mini on a lift that pops up on my tac screen. I checked the owner's manual and it says "major electronic failure" and that only the lowbeams and tail lights will work, which corresponds to my problem. Any ideas?

My friend had this happen.. The only thing he did was disconnect the battery for awhile and reconnected it and everything was fine.. But im not sure if he was lucky or not. Or if by disconnecting the battery just reset everything. It seems to be a hit and miss doing this.. Good luck!

Give that a try.. Im not saying it works with all but maybe it will work for you.. It seems sometimes when jumping your car it can get a spike or surge which causes this. Its a bit strange with todays electronics..you never know what might happen..Good luck though !

Thanks, don't know why I didn't think of that haha I just don't want to take it in and not have a car for 2 weeks. The Mini/BMW dealer in San Antonio is a nightmare... plus I'm in extended warranty so who is to say that it's covered. And if it is this simple I'd feel like an idiot haha

Ha ha I don't blame you for not wanting to take it in.. If its something one can easily do at home why not try it! lol

Easy problem.... Your battery is weak. Either charge (depending on how old it is) or replace and your good to go.
