Last night while I was driving I started having an issue where i could put the manual transmission into 6th gear easily, but would have trouble getting it out. It would come out of gear if i whacked it pretty hard, and then sometimes it would shift normally. This issue hasn't shown up on any other gears yet....any thoughts?

It was ~24F out last night, so i'm wondering if the cold is affecting the shift cables???

What do you guys think?

 

A lot depends on whether the transmission oil is warmed up. Mine shifts harder until it does. Have you ever changed the oil in your transmission? Although advertised as lifetime, it is not. Otherwise it sounds like a synchro going bad.

 

Sorry, forgot to include that i've change the tranny oil ~2 weeks ago when i put in a new axle. Also, the tranny oil was warm, as i had been driving for ~15-20 minutes.

 

Last night i felt the same issue start when trying to put it into 3rd gear....not sure how to check how much tranny fluid is in there (top it off again??) without draining it, but i'm starting to think the cables are the issue.

Has anyone else had a similar issue?? What was your fix?
