P2188 back with a vengence

Hey all,

After some difficulties with my 07 MCS I thought I would bring it to the board and see if anyone had some insight.

I had a CEL come on about a month ago trowing a P2188 (rich at idle). I was planning on going by the dealer, but before my appointment came around the light went off. That was about 4-6 days after it popped on.

All was going well until three days ago, the CEL was back. Same code. From what I can gather there are a few things it could be, but I did notice it could be situational? Could be just coincidence, but both time it came on it was sub zero and it seems like it went away last time after it warmed up over 20. Not sure if this has anything to do with it though.

I have no modifications on the car, it has 37k on it and I just had an updated intake put on it due to the throttle body freezing issue a month and a half ago.

Any thoughts and insights would be helpful.

Thanks

**Update** May be an O2 sensor according to a tech. I disconnected the battery to reset the ecu to see if it would wipe the cel. No luck. I have an appointment with MINI on Tuesday. The vehicle drives like normal. Coolant and Oil were low and I topped it off. Will see what happens Tuesday I guess

Any insight would be helpful

get an OBD2-bluetooth converter and the Torque app for your Android phone. This will run you about $20-25. Or the equivalent for iPhone. Lots of threads on this so read up to find what works well.

Then you can read and clear codes, monitor your AFR and O2 sensors in real time, and get an idea of what might be the problem.
