Last week my driver's side window became "stuck" in the up position...when I went to shut the door, the window could not adjust itself (the little "down-up" motion it usually does to seal the passenger compartment) and the door would not completely shut. I took my MINI in to the Long Beach service center and they have had to special order a new motor for the window mechanism. I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this problem?

I too noticed a tendency to not do the incremental 'drop' upon opening. I finally figured out that I wasn't quite shutting the window all the way - I'd hold the 'up' button until it was closed then release, but if I went back and held it for a second longer (after it appeared to be closed) the problem went away.

By holding the switch in the up position for several seconds, you reset the mechanism for the window drop motion. Standard BMW feature.

Yeah, I was doing the little trick you mentioned (holding the up button a bit longer until the window reset itself)...but it was a temporary fix, and like I said, eventually the window stopped working altogether. Though it's taken a week to get the parts in, my baby is getting fixed as I type this and I should get it back this afternoon!

My mini has the same problem. Took it in last Monday cause the window wouldn't work. They fixed it, but by Friday it was broke again. Took it back this Friday and they said the motor keeps binding. They had to order me a new one as well.
