08 R56 Stock Clutch Problems

Hey guys im new to the north american motoring forums. ive been having some problems with my mini performance wise latley. The clutch on my car seems to have gave up but in a way that i have never seen before, for example i can start the car and put the car in gear but i dont have to use the clutch and it doesnt stall out which it should. some of my friends are saying it could be the slave cylinders and others are saying it could just be wear and tear from getting the car used.. any info will help thanks.

When you shift the car into gear is it actually going into gear? Has a shift linkage cable snapped? You can watch the shift linkage in the engine bay to make sure its going into gear.
