07 Mini Not Downshifting When Stopping

Good afternoon! I have a 07 R56 with auto transmission. If I have the SPORT button on there are no issues. When it is off and I come to a rolling stop it doesn't shift all the way down to first gear. The result is the car trying to take off in 2nd or 3rd and it starts chugging because it doesn't have enough power to go. If I step down on the gas harder it finally shifts down to first and it takes off. I had a fault code come up a while back for pre cat O2 sensor and I replaced that and it drove fine for a while and now it is doing this.

I have attached an image of the errors INPA came up with. I believe some of the errors are from my front left brake sensor needing replacement. I just changed brake pads and realized the sensor needed to be replaced as well. Just havene't gotten one yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

They don't shift into first. It's a gas saving measure to increase the mpg sticker listings. Pretty much all BMW/MINIs do this for quite a while now.

They all do it!
All of my wife's BMWs did it, now her MINI does as well. Partly to deliver a smooth and gentle acceleration that appeals to 95% of the owners. Partly to avoid wheel spin in low traction conditions. Partly for improved gas mileage.

However, modern slushboxes do learn from and adjust to your driving patterns. So if you flog the **** out of your slushbox, it should learn to drop into lower gears more readily. Or, you can just push on that shift paddle (assuming you have that option).
