My mini is so much fun to drive, but I am experiencing the same problems everyone else is having such as the rattle in the seat belt, and the rattle in the sun roof. I have a strange scenario. I drive the car to work everyday and it is fine. At the end of the day at 5 PM when I leave , I start the car , put in reverse, put it in drive and start to drive home. At the end of my works driveway I have to break before going on to the main road. When I apply the brakes the car shakes and feels like it is about to conk out. What is this? It only does it once a day. Any help will be appreciated

It sounds to me like the transmission fluid is just COLD...it is an automatic, no? No real cure that I can think of except let the car run a little longer before driving, even idling for just a bit should warm up the fluid in the torque converter (assuming there IS one). It seems like the problem should happen every time you start out after the car is cold...when you start in the morning, you must not have any stops for a few minutes...but all this is just a guess on my part...try letting the car run for a bit before driving it in the afternoon....Open and close the roof a few times to kill time...ain't it cool???

I emailed my dealer regarding the sunroof rattle. He eamiled me back a response to the problem. Being that I didn't feel it necessary to drive 4 hours to him, just to fix it. He told me to go out to the car, open the sunroof all the way. Then kneel up or stand up from the inside of the car and look at the flaps that come up in front when opeing the roof. Take some lube and apply it to the springs that you'll see at the bottom of the flaps. Also apply some to the contact points where the pegs on the bottom of either side of the flaps click into the rest of the assembly. You can see where you can pull the flaps out at the sides. There's pegs on the sides that slip into holes. Work it about moving all the parts around after applying the lube. Then squirt a bit more on. I did that, and there's not even a peep coming from that area now. Hope that helps in that regard.
As for the other issue you have, what knid of trans do you have? How far away is your dealer?
Cheers,
