I'm going to be replacing the A/C Compressor on my 03 MCS soon and was wondering what else I should do while I have the car apart. Car has 116k on it.

 

thermostat, crank position sensor o-ring, check s/c oil levels, belt and belt tensioner, etc.

 

If you don't have any other reason to take off the front end, this trick is a time saver.

 

are you sure you have a bad compressor? or did the magnetic cluth co bad? My magnet fried last year and I was able to get a new magnet assembly off ebay. just remove the belt and remove the pulley. Didn't even need to remove the compressor from the car to replace it. the magnet for the clutch cost me 100 bucks.

 

I actually just ran across a thread talking about that yesterday. I checked my car out today and it seems the Clutch Coil is bad(I didn't get a resistance reading at all!) and ordered my new coil(off ebay) today.
