While inspecting my brand new 04 MC (just got it last week), I noticed that the car has a header, as opposed to an exhaust manifold. Have they had this since new? I've never heard anyone talking about it, so I thought I'd ask. If it's been standard since 02, nevermind. I just wondered. Thanks.

While the engine mount for the new 2004 MINIs have changed from the older versions the exhaust header has not changed.

Yes it is a header, check out that restriction just before the CAT where the collector pipe necks down.
