08 Base Cooper - Atypical Coolant Loss?

Hello

Had dialogue going about some coolant loss in another thread but brought it here. Still a mystery what's going on. I noticed some coolant missing last night, to my alarm. I thought perhaps it was because it was just cold (wasn't THAT cold).

So, I decided to top off:

The next morning, I drove the car about 50 yards to get the alignment done, which I then picked up later in the afternoon. Less than 1 mile driven, and found:

I understand there's some fluctuation in the overflow tank res, but I thought it would be going the opposite way - It's full on ice cold, so maybe a little higher at any other point - this is the opposite. Now looking at the front of the car from the bottom, I found some coolant on the lip - I'd have to think the leak is somewhere right there in the front:

Top looking down (exhaust mani heat shield on right):

I let the car run a little to see if the leak would surface, more puddle, anything - nothing of the sort - the overflow tank level actually rose (as it should in normal operation)

Thoughts?? It's a mystery to me. I'm letting the car get back to "cold" and then starting it up, seeing if something expands or contracts causing the coolant to leak out. Must be some hose or something right next to the radiator?

you sure? someone else commented that the water pump is in the back of the motor, but all my leak seems to be in the front

So, after the car was completely filled last night, 1 mile later it sits here:

So I refilled the tank

And take it for a spin tomorrow to see if there's any additional leak. I guess from the location of the leak that hose that connects to the radiator is suspect.

Resolved: took it to a local shop that ran a pressure test (didnt charge a dime for it) - it is the radiator and/or radiator hose that's causing the leak
