Just a heads up to everyone.

SI M11 01 13
Engine April 2013
Technical Service

PERFORM THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN THIS SERVICE INFORMATION ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES BEFORE CUSTOMER DELIVERY OR THE NEXT TIME THEY ARE IN THE SHOP FOR MAINTENANCE OR REPAIRS.

SUBJECT
Service Action: Replace the Coolant Pump

MODEL
R55
R56
R57
With the N14, N16 or N18 engine
R58
R59
R60
With the N16 or N18 engine

situation
Coolant is leaking from the coolant pump.

cause
The coolant pump may develop cracks in the plastic housing. These cracks may result in a coolant leak.

affected vehicles
This Service Action affects certain MINI models equipped with the N14, N16 or N18 engine, produced from 6/2012 to 8/2012.

In order to determine whether a specific vehicle has had this Service Action or Recall Campaign completed or is affected by this Service Action, first check the B-pillar label for code number 59. If code number 59 has been punched out, the campaign has already been performed. If code number 59 has not been punched out, it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or the Key Reader. Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action.

procedure
Replace the coolant pump with P/N 11 51 8 604 888 and the seal ring per Repair Instruction REP 11 51 000.

parts information
Part Number Description Quantity
11 51 8 604 888 Coolant pump 1

label instructions

This Service Action has been assigned code number 59. After the vehicle has been checked and/or corrected, obtain a label (MD20–040) and:

Emboss your MINI dealer warranty number in the middle of the label (1);

Punch out code number 59 (2), printed on the label; and

Affix the label to the B-pillar as shown.

If the vehicle already has a label from a previous Service Action/Recall Campaign, affix the new label next to the old one. Do not affix one label on top of another one because a number from an underlying label could appear in the punched-out hole of the new label.

warranty information
The repair described in this bulletin is covered under warranty regardless of time or mileage.

I wonder if this will be an actual recall where I can recoup the cost of already performed repairs.

Your vehicle does not apply to this bulletin (based on your signature). So I would have to firmly say .

This bulletin applies to vehicles produced from 6/2012 to 8/2012.
