Never mind, figured it out. Press the black plastic quick disconnect _INTO_ the fuel line (towards the passenger side of the car) and pull the line away from the regulator. Caught excess fuel with a shop rag as I removed it.
If you cannot get it off in the future, they make a special tool to give oyu some leverage without crushing it, unlike pliers. They have been designed to be removed by hand but it does not always work that way.
