oil leak only on for a bit on cold engine
oil leak only on for a bit on cold engine
So I tried searching for days now and it is overwhelming . By the way sorry for no introduction. Name is Diego. I got a 07 mcs. Live in San Antonio tx.
So after replacing both turbo lines. Feed and drain. I noticed it still smoked from the front. Next I replaced clutch which was done! Then It still smelled liked burned but only after 5 min of a cold engine. I noticed that it leaks a bit of oil. About 2 inch diameter. After driving it for about 10 min it no longer smokes. Btw it smokes because the oil hits the down pipe. It does seem sluggish. Did I also mention a replaced the tensioner bolt for the longer one. Anyways any ideas. Its embarrassing to look cool in a smoking cooper. Literally

I have the same problem. I'm leaning toward it being the gaskets between the heat exchanger and oil filter housing and engine block. I'm hoping to get in there with a cheap boroscope I bought before I start ordering parts and trying to figure out how to do the repair.
more then likely your oil filter housing gasket has failed and is now leaking onto the lower section of the exhaust. It is possible that the vacuum pump is also leaking, but for your sake I hope its nothing more then oil filter housing gaskets taking a poop.
Do you have a picture of where the leak is happening? Did you just change your oil ?
Thanks
Thanks

I'll try to get a pic soon. I did just change my filter. But it did it before as well. Not sure because of the clutch smoked up. Or the turbo lines. I noticed that it stills smell burn even after a while running. So that's means that it still leaks. Maybe not enough to make a big smoke. I'm thinking on a cold down pipe it won burn yet until the down pipe has gotten hot. Then after all that, the oil built up is burned right away which causes it to smoke. But after most of the smoke is burned, this is probably why it doesn't make a noticeable smoke later on.
Wow.. i forgot to post up the pic, but i did manage to find the problem..
Turns out the gaskets on the oil filter and the heat exchanger were not sealing properly. I just swapped it out and viola! Now it doesn't leak anymore
