If you lift up the rear bench you'll see a white circle; pull it and the trunk will unlock.

Nope, if your battery is dead, there is no other way to open the trunk but to lift the rear seat and pull the trunk release. Good Luck!

Lift the rear seat cushion and underneath that you should see a cord attached to a plastic loop, pull on it and that should be it.

Can't get the tub of corn out, it's more like 75+ lbs ( I lift 50# bags of horse feed so I know). The tub is too big to get out behind the drivers door. Good grief this is ridiculous.
It would be very dangerous to hook two sets of jumper cables together? I know... So how do I get to the white handle?
Good grief...

Try jumping the car from under the hood.

Why do you have 75lbs of corn in your back seat?!
Well you could always just try to squeeze your hand underneath the seat cushion and feel around for the pull release, should be somewhere near the center.

Won't jump from the front, even with a tow truck. Help arrived and the box of corn is out, well mostly. I have the bottom seat pad off but it's clean as a whistle... No handle, rope or pull. The upper rear seats are up to get
The seat pad up. Where?

There should be a pull release just like this in your car, you don't have one?

Dumb question but now that you have the corn out can you just replace the battery from inside. I know it will be a pain.

Under the seat is clean as a whistle. Nothing when I flip the upper seats, nothing behind. Really)? Maybe can find a tow truck with long enough cables...but hate to jup the battery with the hatch down. Maybe tow, remove the battery and charge it. I don't suppose Mini will help me if there list an escape...I've been locked inside with a dead battery, couldn't open it from inside or out. Done done done...thanks for responding so quickly!

I don't think that would work because that would require the backrests to be down. They aren't really accessible from inside the car.

The early 02's do not always have the hatch release. My 02 MCS did not which I also found out the hard way when my battery died.

^True that. The emergency boot release cable was an afterthought. Try asking dealership to hook 1 in now that you've been traumatized.
