Source for intake vacuum line clips?
Source for intake vacuum line clips?
Yes, the red ones that hold the vacuum lines in place in the lower intake duct on a Gen 1 S. The ones that the Pelican Parts How-to article says to be careful with because they're not available separately. Well, I was very careful but they were brittle and broke anyway. Anyone know of a source, new or used? Anyone have to fab an alternate method instead of spending $122 on a new duct?

Thanks

Thanks
I am in the same boat and think the Pelican Parts guide is't clear. "remove the vacuum lines from the plastic air intake by applying equal pressure to each side of the red clip and pry it out using two small screwdrivers."
After I broke my red clips and the stem of the pressure sensor on the other end of the hose I found this:
You don't pry the clip out. You need to push in on the red clip as you draw the hose out of the duct. The other hose came right out by pressing in on the clip.

Hi guys, I have had this frustation as well. The solution I came up with involves a trip to your local Lowes plumbing department. There you will find a Watts brand quick connector [part number PL-3025] This connector has the clip in it that you will still need to modify a little bit. It is just a little larger than your old one. It will slide onto your plastic line just fine but is too snug to snap into its fixture. The Watts clip has more tabs and less of a gap between the tabs that clip into the female part your line is attached to. So I used a small set of side cutters and snipped off a portion of all sides of the tabs.[enlarging the gap between the tabs]. I then put the retainer clip over a piece of tubing and chucked it up in my drill and used apiece of sand paper [120grit] while spinning it to remove a small amount of its outside dimension. Not much. Test fit into untill you are happy with the fit. This is a little work but for $2.38 vs $122.00 it is well worth your time. A little more info on this clip is it is just a retainter clip, there is a o-ring down inside where the line goes in that actually does the sealing. Also a wooden dowell rod might work better in your drill as it might be easier to keep it running true. I hope I have made this easy to understand but if not, ask.
I just got done with this yesterday. dpayne was right on the money and this thread deserved a bump. Those pl-3025 fittings are at lowes for $2.88 each and fit pretty well. I bought three and tried his method on one but I cold not get it to seat correctly down inside the black housing.
What I ended up doing was drilling out the holes that the red clips fit into. I did it in 64th increments until I drilled the hole out to 29/64ths. This allowed me to get the new white clips in with no modification to the clips and still get my rigid vacuum line in there. I made sure to pull the green o-rings out with a dental pick before I started drilling and replaced them when I had the holes drilled out.
This will give your vacuum lines a very snug fit and took some effort to get them in there. Hopefully this will help clear up my P0171 lean code, well this fix and replacing my torn rubber intake boot. This saved me a bunch of money and kept my wife happy.
