Loss of power once I go above 2500 rpm; restarting cures

I experienced a series of issues Saturday night, and I'm unsure if they are related.

I noticed suddenly that I had lost power steering, and then when I pulled into a parking lot, I noticed the car was overheating. I also noticed the battery light had come on. I then remembered that I recently had lost power steering, but the next morning it was fine.

After letting it sit for a couple of hours, I returned and found that it still had coolant. I started it and it seemed to be fine, but the battery light was still on. Once on the street, when I reached about 2500 rpm, it bogged down and wouldn't go above 2000 rpm. Turning the key off and restarting the car, power was restored. Going above 2500 triggered it again. If I stayed below, it would be okay.

Then, the temp started to creep up.

I stopped the car, and the reservoir was boiling. Let it cool off, checked a few things, noticed the oil was a bit low. Long story short, it continued with the same symptoms, and I ended up having it towed.

Today, I replaced the thermostat and, as I suspected, it was stuck open.

Filled with coolant, let idle up to temp and bled system. Charged battery, since it wouldn't start. (not sure if it was just drained from all of the constant starting)

Checked power steering fluid was low, so left to go pick some up. Same symptoms of loss of power. Also, the heater is now not functioning. (noticed this when I was trying to shed some heat Saturday)

I hope the overheating did no damage. I would keep a close eye on it for awhile.
