Ok, need the power of NAM here...

Specs on car:
2006 S factory JCW
no engine mods
84K

Ok, so here goes the story. two nights ago i went out drinking and parked my car. got done drinking and there was no way i was going ot drive home so i got a ride. Next day (yesterday) i couldnt get back to my car till about 5 in the afternoon. Pull into the parkinglot and my car is nowhere to be found. Thats when i noticed i parked under a sign that said permit parking only, all others will be towed...Damn!

I find out which company does the towing for the lot and give them a ring. Yep, they have my poor little car. many, many dollars later I get my car out of jail. start driving hom and all is fine with the world. I stop by a gas station about 3 miles from my house to grab a burrito for dinner and a diet coke.
Get back on a short back road that dumps onto the main road that my house is on. I pull out onto the main road pick up speed (normal, theres a cop around driving) and I shift into third. I let off the clutch and give it gas, but nothing....no response. Crap i think ive lost third gear in the tranny, down shift to second and still no power. Thats when i noticed al the lights on my dash. EML, DSC and SES. Its in limp mode. I get it home and as i pull into my parking lot it stalls out. I manage to get it started to pull into a spot.
While its in the spot i try and start it a few times. it will start, idle rough for a second or two then stall out. When I start it, if i give it gas it will stay running, but cap out at 2K RPM and it smells really rich. Today i call my buddy who tells me he left his scan gauge 2 in his garage and to go grab it. so i run over there in another car and get it.
Once i plugged it in it said 3 stored codes:
P1688
P0107
P1106

try to start it and it does the same thing as before, gurgles then stalls. going through the readings while i managed to keep it running boost was reading -12.5 to -13.5 and MAP psi of 2.4
I have read up what each code means individually and i think most people are going to say balancer, but at idle i can see the belt moving and powering everything, and i don't and didn't smell burning rubber. the rich smell and stalling leads my thinking to something in the fuel management system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

At idle there's very little load/resistance on the pulleys. Did you run at idle with the A/C on when you were checking? Its about a 20 minute job to pull your RF wheel off and wheel liner to look at the front of your balancer. Any wobble when the engine is at idle with a/c on coldest??

Seems like a typical balancer issue and there's been a LOT of these going around lately on the boards. I'm tempted to replace mine now after reading everyone's issues this summer but holding off till x-mas...I've got a sound system to put in right now.

Anyways, give it a look-see. Perhaps take the belt off or loosen tension on the belt and with access through the RF wheel grab the balancer with 2 hands and see if you can pull/push and feel play indicating cracked rubber.

Ok, was able to get the belt loose today and pushed, pulled and yanked on the pulley and it doesn't budge. No play or movement at all. Still going to go ahead and order a new crank pulley and replace it. If that doesn't fix it I guess I'll just start trouble shooting orher things.

UPDATE:
after the crank pulley didnt help i was certain there was a problem with the air/fuel mixture due to the fact it was running real rich (spark plugs were fouled, smell of gas on the tMAP sensor and gas smell on the back side of the throttle body. I originally ordered 2 new MAP sensors from mini mania since MINI of El Paso refused to take my card info over the phone. they wanted me to run the card in person...which would have been fine...if i have a car to drive the hour to the dealer. anyways. was searching around here on NAM and saw there was a fellow in Colorado Springs parting out his totaled 06S. got ahold of him and i was able to snag both sensors and his throttle body (you never know) for less than the 2 sensors were gonna cost. Well, i got the parts today and put them in. So far so good. All lights have gone out, it has a stong idle and a quick trip down the road was promising.
I'm going to keep trips short and in town for a little while just do be sure. But in the end i think it was the MAP sensors that went bad.
