2006 MCS Shifting problems (auto)

hi all-
i have a 2006 S (83k miles/automatic) i've bought about 3 months ago from a second owner and i've had nothing but problems with it (i want to love this car but right now i'm hating it). I've probably already sunk about 4 grand in repairs so i'm worried the next is a biggy...but hopefully not!

I've had some weird shifting going on lately. If i'm driving (noticed it first on hills) in a lower gear it kind of shifts into the next really either really soon or really late (the rpms go to about 3/4). And then when i'm coming to a stop it downshifts quite hard. It just feels like it's often trying to find the right gear and revving a little high at seemingly random times. Seems to be better behaved at high speeds.
I've just had the shift assembly redone (which my mechanic thought was the problem) at quite a cost and the software reset but it's still happening.
Could this simply be that i need a tranny fluid change that i've read about a bunch here?
thanks for any ideas and for all the knowledge on here...i'm learning tons!

2006 MCSA Shifting

I had the same problem with my 06 MCSA shifting funny. Did the fluid change and reset the computer still no luck, just got worst? Mini dealership wanted $9500.00 to replace auto trans.

The shifter was also replaced do to some sort or melting and the shifter did not lock. You could go from park to drive without putting foot on the brake.

I am the second owner and have all the maintenance records. The previous owner had over heat the engine due to some sort of coolant leak. I believe that this is what caused the damage to the auto trans since it's cooled by engine coolant.

Anyway, I wound up having to replace the automatic transmission at a cost of $5300.00. The auto trans came with a 3yr 500,000 mile warranty.

FYI: There is a class action lawsuit going on just Google Mini Automatic Transmission lawsuit. I have contact the lawyers and my name is on the list. I was told to just keep all my receipts.

well i took it back to my mechanic who put in a used transmission computer that he bought from a junk yard. it seems to work ok...the shifting still isnt as good as it used to be. BUT it was enough to get me to a dealer to buy a new FIAT500 and trade in my Mini. Just too many expensive problems with that car...i couldn't take it anymore. I was so sad to leave it but it had to be done.
My mechanic was complaining about all the Minis they get in for work....even newer ones (mine was a 2006).
