Clicking sound, no start, and then.....

so I did some research and threads/OP's are saying battery is on its way out, but I just wanna confirm here...

Wife tells me noticed a bad weak start yesterday. Today she says theres a clicking sound and no start, and a power window icon shows up on the Tach. She brings it home where its running fine, I turn it off for abou5t 45 mins and everything described, clicking, no start with a power window icon and a CEL. did it again and third time was a charm.
I'm pretty sure its the original battery, only had her MCS for 10k miles. Has 42k on it now. 2010 MCS Camden
so...??? Battery or something worse?

No clicking sound or power window icon this time. I think thats what thru me at first. I noticed right after the video that the fan came on.
Pulled up my Z, thru some jumpers on waited a few mins and started up no probs.
Thinking about getting that optima red top now.

Not necessarily, MINI OEM Batteries are notorious for going bad prematurely. The OEM battery in my car only lasted 22 months and many others have reported less than 3 years.

Also of note is that if the car does short runs to and from work like 5-10 miles each way the battery will not charge well and can cause the battery to fail early as well. This is an issue with the MINI charging system.

I'm with schatzy all the way on this, as I had a similar condition on my 2009.
Mine died with only 6,500 miles with the car was already 1.5 years old.
Short trips are typically the culprit; get out and the stretch the legs on the car from time to time to deep cycle the battery.
