Pepper White Discoloration

Hello!

I have a 2010 Mini Cooper in Pepper White and I noticed that there's a 6 inch band on the passenger door that appears to be yellowed.

I'm not sure if it's in the paint or clear coat, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their Pepper White car? Not sure if it's a problem with the factory paint getting discolored or not?

Thanks in advance!

Can't speak for Pepper White on the MINI, but I've had a similar thing happen on the rear tailgate of a white '96 GMC Jimmy that I used to own; it seemed to be something (sealant or lubricant residue...?) running down from the exterior release button for the rear window. That vehicle was ultimately bought back by GM as a lemon (unrelated to the paint), and I ended up with a nearly-identical '97 Jimmy that also displayed a little of the same phenomenon. In the end, I did nothing except wash and wax the vehicle, and the discoloration eventually disappeared from the finish of the '97...

This happened to my sisters '04. They polished it out somehow.

It could have been damaged in transit and repaired. Now that the paint is aging you can see the paint repair. Maybe your dealer has some record of repairs done while in transit.

Thanks guys!

RadioFlyer - Was your sister's car Pepper White as well? Did they cover it under the factory warranty?

The dealer is giving me a hard time saying that the discoloration on the door is caused by it being "tampered" and no longer covered under warranty... because they think the door had work done to it by a body shop (which is has not).

Maybe I need to get a regional service person involved?
