Replace alternator through the wheel well liner?

Title says it all... has anyone done it? Not looking forward to putting the car in service mode...

Doubt if there is enough room to pull it out thru the wheel well. Looks like service mode is the way to go.

Minsanity thanks for the response. Gonna leave up for a few days to see if anyone has done or tried. Hoping to tackle this weekend...

Does anyone have the writeup for removing the serpentine belt too without the tool? I understand how its done, but maybe someone has a DIY.

The belt is easy. 16mm socket on the tensioner bolt by the supercharger pulley to use as a fulcrum. Alan key in one of the 2 holes towards the back of the tensioner to lift the tensioner up. Then use something long like a pry bar (i use a 30 inch long wood clamp) to release the tension. When it's loose put a small screw driver in the 2nd hole that come out of the back of the spring.

Pretty sure that it's not possible to do the swap from the wheel well.

Sorry but you can't replace the Alt through the wheel well. Front Service mode will get it done.

Thanks guys. I will go service mode.

Doesn't look too bad. There's some good threads here. I just don't have the bentley so if I screw it up

I'll be posting here again....
