timing change question again

timing change question again
so I have recently purchased my 2007 MCS and on a few particularly cold mornings have heard what I believe to be the timing chain rattle. have attempted to get MINI to acknowledge this manufacturing "problem" and to replace the assembly, with no success so far.
I would rather play it safe and pay for the upgrade if they are unwilling to contribute.
Question is, is the tensioner replacement simply a bandaid repair? Would I be better off to have the whole assembly replaced regardless of timing chain specs?
Thinking of going the safe route and just changing out the whole thing.
What does everyone think?
The entire engine was replaced in 2009, don't want that to happen to me.

I take it you don't have any warranty.
Have you listened to some of the video's showing the
timing chain issue sound (rocks bouncing around in the
upper passenger side of engine)?
If you are sure it's the tensioner issue, just replacing the
tensioner bolt IMO is a bandaid. I'd replace all parts which
if the dealer does it will be around $1700 unless you have a
good dealership that is willing to absorb part of the cost as
mine did.
There is a new tensioner bolt (longer than stock) that is suppose
to keep the chain in check. My dealership told me that they
have not had any come back after repair to entire system was
done.
Be sure to keep a good eye on engine oil level, low oil levels can
attribute to the failure.
Good Luck.
Oh, it also seems that repair w/no warranty is entirely in the hands
of the dealership.

I had my tensioner only replaced at about the 50k miles mark. Very recently at just over the 100k mile mark I thought I heard the rattle a couple mornings (but could have been due to an oil change I had just done). Anyway, to be on the cautious side, I went ahead and put a new tensioner in since they are a couple generations removed from the one I had replaced under warranty.
It might be worth it to get the tool used to measure the slack in the chain.
