Timing Chain Tensioner?

Well, over the last day or two I have noticed a noise coming from the front left of the engine that sounds like the lifters. If goes away as I rev up the engine and then returns on idle. It also starts to go away after the car has run for a few min. Oil levels are fine but I am thinking that it might be the timing chain tensioner.

Has anyone else had anything like this?

Is it difficult to change? I'm due an oil/belt change and looking at diagrams it seems that the bolt is right next to the filter. Just curious what someone that has dealt with this thinks.

TIA

Could be a lazy lifter, which might be solved with an oil change. If the sound is a tick, tick, tick, it's probably a lifter. If it's a gawdaweful clattering, your tensioner might be bad. Start with oil change before throwing parts at it.

Thanks, I was thinking that originally. I am due for a change, we'll start there.

Well, I figured it was time to clean out my catch can, so I pulled it out, cleaned it and put it back in. Now everything seems to be back to normal and the sound is gone. Weird, but I do know that with the weather changing it could be anything but she is running and sounding great again.

An oil change is still on the list and the oil is on the way.
