Correct brake fluid level?
Hi,
I just had my brake fluid flushed at the dealer, and was told I have a slight leak in the [power steering] system. For that reason I checked the level today so I had a point of reference so I would know when to top if off (before having the repair done).
The manual doesn't explicitly state what the correct brake fluid level is. My cap has a "dipstick" of sorts with two discreet lines. The fluid is reading at halfway up lowest line.
Where's the sweet spot?
Thanks!

Wrong question, bub (owner's manual has a solid hint). The right one is: Why did the dealer send a car out of his shop with a leaking system of any sort? I'd start to question his reliability.

My mistake: My original post should have read, brake fluid flushed at the dealer, and was told I have a slight leak in the power steering system.
I'm getting a few drips a week.
The brake system is one place you don't want a leak. They system needs to be air tight, otherwise the fluid will be absorbing water, be less effective, and compromise the brake hardware.
Even so, If the dealer noticed a leak, he should have solved the problem. You can arm-wrestle a MINI without the steering pump but why have to put up with the hassle.
"OK, new pads and rotors all ready for you. By the way, there's a nail in your off side rear tire. Good luck with that."

Either I'm confused or you are. I think you have the pwr strg reservoir confused with the brake fluid reservoir. The pwr strg system has a dipstick in the cap. The brake fluid res. has max/min marks. Suggest you read your owners manual closely for answers and get back to us once all is clear.
