Preventing Power Steering Wiring Harness Fire
Preventing Power Steering Wiring Harness Fire
A fellow member had emailed me and told me his Power Steering wiring harness caught fire and was destroyed. He was glad it only cost him $800 after the dealer agreed to cover some of the costly repair.
Its hard to imagine that the wiring harness will burn before the fuse blows, However I've heard of this problem in the past and it was predicted by the Prophet Murphy.
Has anyone come up with a workaround to keep this from happening, such as an independent power line going directly to the fuse box thereby bypassing the factory harness? Or perhaps a fuse link close to the power steering pump?
Sooner or later the pumps will fail, I would like to take preventative measures against the failure taking the wiring harness or car with it.
Open for suggestions......
